Hi, I am using Ethernet cable broadband.
I am using Dlink Dir 600L
http://
I am noticing a peculiar symptom today. When I switch on the router it works well for the first 15-20 mins then I dont get any reply when I ping 8.8.8.8 (google DNS). Then if I restart the router I can ping again. Should I just buy a new router or is there something I should try first ?

Solution
You can try doing a firmware upgrade to the latest version and see if that helps: http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-600L

Otherwise yeah a new router would be a good idea. D-LInk is not that good of a brand and the 600L is getting old.

My Bang-for-the-buck suggest is teh TM-AC1900: https://www.amazon.com/T-Mobile-Wireless-AC1900-Dual-Band-AiProtection-Complete/dp/B01MYTAURW
It is internally the EXACT same router as the $150 ASUS RT-AC68U, it just has tmobile branding and slighlty modified firmware.
No, you dont need t-mobile service or even have to be in USA, it will work as any normal router will, it just has an extra function for t-mobile phones.

If you (or a friend) are fairly computer savy (so have flashed firmware...
try open dns servers see if the issue follows the servers if it does see if you have the newest firmware on the router to rule out a firmware bug. if you do the router may be over heating and locking up. try blowing it out see if it a heat issue. if it still locks up looks like it time to replace it.

If you (or a friend) are fairly computer savy (so have flashed firmware before and familiar with putty) you can actually force this router to use the regular ASUS firmware and at that point you can load asusmerlin or any other aftermarket firmware you want for even more capabilities.

I checked the firmware is already the newest. I just cleaned the router with a blower lets see if that solves the issue, if it doesnt I will have to buy a new one. Thanks for your replies.
