When i changed my gtx 950 msi to a rx 470 4gb and my psu from a corsair 350vs to a 550vs my pc would not boot and gave no signal to monitor. when i changed all of the parts back it had corrupted my hard drive at a hefty cost to my bank account. Is this because i changed my graphics card without clearing/ buying a new hard drive or is it because my power supply distributed the power incorrectly? If it is the later i shall be sending a very p****d off email to corsair asking for a refund and compensation. Thanks for any help in advance <3

Simply changing to a same quality but higher wattage psu and a new gfx card will normally have no effect, whatsoever, on the rest of your PC - providing you connected all power and data leads correctly, and you took required care.
On the other hand, if your new PSU or GFX card was faulty then unfortunately there might be issues - but this is an unlikely scenario though not impossible.

How did you determine the HDD was corrupt?

Sounds like you didn't remove your 950 drivers before installing the 470, but not sure where your HDD would come into it...

Also, almost all components (including PSUs) are warrantied for the component itself - not any subsequent damage, so the Corsair route wouldn't get you anywhere, even if it were a "distribution of power" issue. For example: If your water cooling leaks and kills your Mobo/CPU/RAM/GPU....... the cooler manufacturer at best, would only replace the cooler.
