do you have to have a built in VGA port in a graphics card to be able to get use of the graphics?

i'm saving up for a pc and it has a geforce 710 2GB in it so i have to save up for a GTX 1050ti to have better graphics, and i was just wondering do graphics cards have to have a built in VGA or DVI port to be able to use the graphics card because the graphics card i'm looking at has just 4 HDMI ports, thanks

Solution
You have to have a monitor that supports digital input. If you have a monitor that has only a 15 pin VGA port, then the newer graphic cards are not optimal. The 10xx series from NVIDIA and the RX4xx from AMD only have DIGITAL outputs (DVI, HDMI, display port). You have to buy a separate converter to use with a VGA input only monitor.

Yeah your choice of graphics card should first start with what kind of inputs does your monitor have? The alternative is buying an 'active' converter, and those cost more than passive converters. So you can buy the right kind of graphics card, or buy a graphics card and active converter.

If you haven't bought anything yet, including the monitor, then you have more options. Plan ahead by making sure your monitor and graphics card selections work with each other without needing adapters.
