Depends, You can use Nvidia Inspector to gain the benefits from SLI on a games that SLI doesn't work in, for example, Battlefield One SLI is bugged, forcing the SLI bits to the FarCry 3 profile I gain the benefits of running 2 cards, I pretty much almost doubled my FPS.

Or a new game and a new Engine like Playerunknown Battlegrounds, Force a SLI profile with Nvidia Inspector and SLI works good, that game has zero SLI support.

So I mean you can optimize or even get SLI working in games that it normally doesn't work in, I remember GTA5 when it first came out and everyone with SLI had random low FPS issues, Changing something again though on the same...

Some games it works in some it don't, but if you really want to figure out how to optimize or tweak sli settings for a game that's not working correctly with SLI, I suggest that you read up on how to use Nvidia Inspector and what Compatibility bits to use for so and so game, to be honest, its going to be way to much for me to type in 1 reply explaining how to use it.

SLI is still pretty much not working any DX12 title, so there's that.

Good luck!
