Bad motherboard, CPU or PSU?

Hello. I was hoping someone wouldn't mind helping me understand a few things. My PC stopped booting today. When I turned it on the case fans lit up and spun for less than a second then it does nothing. Flipping the PSU switch and unplugging/plugging it back in then turning it on makes the fans light and spin for less than a second again, but that is all it will do. It does not produce any sort of beeps.

Components:

MSI 970a-g43 motherboard
AMD FX-8320
Hyper 212-EVO Cooler
EVGA GTX 750 ti SC ACX
16gb PNY 1333 ddr3 (Two sticks of 4, one of 8)
Kingwin 680w PSU

Motherboard is about 3 years old.
CPU is only about 4 months old.
GPU is about 2 years old.
Two sticks of ram are about 3 years old, one stick is about 1 1/2 years old.
PSU was given to me 6 or 7 years ago and I have been using it since.

I've read a lot about this motherboard having VRM heating issues, which I'm thinking might be what caused my problem, if not static+user error. I can't even find anything about my PSU though and I've been using it for a while so I'm not sure what to think about that, not to mention that it had to have been used at least a little before it was given to me.

I had been running a 4.3ghz overclock for about 4 days with what I thought I understood to be good temps and no issues that I noticed. I don't remember exactly what they were but during the last AIDA64 stress test I ran the CPU temp was never above 51C, and the motherboard temp it showed me was around 30C-35C (I don't know if that is good, bad, average or possibly an inaccurate reading or something but it was around that I know.) This issue started while I was trying to push it to 4.4ghz, since I thought the temps seemed fine, but I had to pull the CMOS battery to reset. When I did so this particular time I forgot to unplug the PSU and discharge with the power button. I was also on carpet like a dummy. If I remeber correctly the CPU voltage was at 1.446-1.447 (motherboard doesn't allow 1.45+ from what I understand), I think RAM voltage was at 1.55 or so at 1600mhz and I think the NB (?) voltage was around 1.26-1.3 2400mhz and 2600mhz.

I pulled the PSU out and it kicked on/ran fine with the paperclip test with one case fan hooked up, but I'm not too sure if that means for certain that the PSU is not the problem. After that I pulled GPU, RAM etc out of my PC and only plugged in the PSU motherboard connectors, speaker, CPU fan and I think one 120mm system fan may have still been plugged in. It did the same thing as when everything was installed. These were the voltages and everything that ran 4.3ghz seemingly well for 4 days. I only bumped the multiplier up for 4.4ghz when I had to pull the CMOS battery.

I might be able to use a 300w PSU from an Inspiron to test that, if it would work, but I'm not sure yet. I just hoped maybe someone here could help me with some info first.

Does it sound like the VRM heating issue fried the motherboard, the PSU actually is bad even though it ran with the paper clip+case fan, my dumb ass pushed voltages/clocks too far and fried the CPU, my dumb ass fried something when pulling the battery on carpet without unplugging and discharging PSU or something else?

Any help is appreciated.

Solution
well, you right the paperclip isn't fowlable...

according to this, your 300WPSU would not be any help as your draw of power is pretty steep

you could get a new PSU, and see if that starts it...

you could get a new PSU, and see if that starts it up, then you know , that Kingwin PSU you have.. is not even rated 80+ and its 6years old. my bet, your PSU is worn out, buy a new one, replace it, if it doesn't start return it for your money.. should not take longer than 30 mins to know. then take it from there.

you need a better quality 80+ Bronze minimum and 550w is all you need, if new psu doesn't start the pc, then reset cmos to clear your overclocking and see if the system will boot then.

I got a $60 650w Thermaltake PSU in town today (cheapest 80+ Bronze they had) and after installing and clearing CMOS again it booted up. Thank you guys for your help! It is greatly appreciated.
