Is this gaming rig good enough for >55fps on most games

Solution
Same setup with motherboard that has wifi as requested, note I did not change to rx470 because seemingly they are only less than 20 quid differences between rx480 and 470 in the uk

hum maybe I cannot read but your "rig" is over 880 quid mate you way over the 550quid ... and for 550 quid you will not sport an I5-7500 but more in the lines of a G4560 as shown below your copy listed system. and when your computer case is more than your motherboard or CPU you need to cut your expenses somewhere and set your priorities on the computer not the razzle dazzle

for 550 quid your looking at this... yes it is a dual core but it supports hyper treading will run like a I3-7100 for half the price, good solid system, with space to expand later the cpu toi a i5-7770 if you like, M.2 connectivity for a nice EVo950 from Samsung SSD and a video card that will do 1920x1080 and more and ruin lot of games at very decent speeds (80FPS or more).

Any specific setting or resolution? An RX 470 + Pentium G4560 or so would be enough to run most games at 1080p >55 FPS at Medium/High settings depending on the game. It would also probably bring the build cost close to your budget.

My preferable setting would be high.
Would an intel pentium be good still for programming and work??

EDIT: and could you recommend a cheap motherboard with an inbuilt WiFi chip or should I just get a wifi adapter separately

I would really appreciate if you could build a cheaper and better rig on pcpartpicker and post the link

tweaked my offering with a G4620 + RX480 4GB.. 16GB Ram

It should be alright. A i5 would be ideal but some light programming and working should be within the capabilities of this Pentium, if i'm not mistaken it is the first to have Intel Hyperthreading (essentially giving similar to i3 performance).

since the motherboard is lga 1151 would I be able to upgrade to and i5 processor later.
Also you missed the CPU cooler. Is the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler good enough for £24??

Yes you can upgrade to an i5/i7 later if you wish as long as it's from the Intel 6th or 7th Generation. As for the cooler, he didn't include one because it comes with one more than capable of cooling it. You would only need an aftermarket for a K series CPU or if you had serious problems with temps which shouldn't happen on a Pentium. :)

well lets see, the balance is when you get the I7 in there you will need very good ventilation, so you cannot go too small, or will have to get another case later, here is one with good reviews
