Possibly Faulty Hard Drive?

This is my first actual question on a forum online about Computers, so i have no idea if i actually asked in the right section. If i didn't, I'm Very Sorry.

I've noticed in the past few days that my computer sometimes (pretty much randomly from what i've seen) Freezes, and the Hard Drive goes silent. The screen, Cursor, even the F# Functions stop working, as well as sometimes not even boot at all. The computer itself boots fine, But the hard drive seems to, sometimes (3/4 of the time, really), not activate. i hear the usual spinning sound, then it just stops and goes silent. (I am still able to access the BIOS settings). I don't know if it's a coincidence, but i noticed that when i shake the laptop (pretty much furiously, and not out of frustration, just a trick i'm trying as last resort), the drive with miraculously boot and unfreeze. It happened alot while i was playing games, and the thing unfroze upon shaking (most of the time). I wanted to know if it could be a faulty HardDrive, or just that some cable inside could be misconnected/faulty, or anything else. There's no unusual sounds coming from my Hard Drive (Clicking or Grinding), Except perhaps the silence when it takes a Nap.

(I have heavy concentration troubles, so i don't know if i included all the symptoms i've been experiencing...)

My computer is an Acer Aspire E15, but i couldn't tell what kind of HDD i have, since i don't know the manufacturer..

(yes, i know, i'm a total mess when i ask written questions)

so your saying if I understand properly, your playing a game your pc freezes, you shake it and it works again, and this would be a hard drive issue from the lack of noise a hard drive makes or not on a laptop. ?

well you could run a smart diagnostics on it, and see if it reveals anything.
you could make sure your power setting on your laptop is set to high performance instead of balanced
see how that makes out ..
could be a hard drive issue, but shaking a laptop isn't going to reboots/restart a hard drive,

I would be leaning it could very well be a connector/cable from motherboard to hard drive that is loose,
and "shaking" somehow makes it connect enough to run again.
I would pop the rear cover on that laptop and check connections...
