i have a good pc but i keep getting low fps in nearly every game, like 60-80 and sometimes it drops to 10

I think i should be getting more fps, and when i change graphics quality high-low the fps stay nearly the same

My build:
windows 10
Motherboard Asus SABERTOOTH 990FX R3.0
16GB memory
SSD 250GB
AMD FX-8350 Octa-Core 4.0GHz
MSI R9 390 GAMING 8GB GD5

Help is very much apreciated :)

That's because your graphics isn't the problem. It's your CPU.

New PENTIUMS are better for gaming (unless the game is optimized for the use of 8 cores) than the FX-8350. Every other component in your system looks fantastic for gaming (except the mobo, but that's...

I switched from FX-8320 OC'd to 4.3Ghz to i5-4690k. Before I even overclocked at all, the difference in gaming was night and day.

Well you do get good fps, just only some of the time. Those dips are caused by the CPU cores being used by the game spiking, unable to handle what the game's throwing at it.

Yes, overclocking helps out some. You essentially turn your FX8350 into a FX8370 with a slight OC. But it's still 4.5~year old AMD (even back then it didn't beat the intel counterparts). Your processor excels at mutlithreaded tasks, but with most games being only 2-4 thread optimized, it doesn't help you much unless you're streaming, too.

Overclock for now, but save up and upgrade to a 7th gen i5 + 200series mobo for gaming, or i7 7th gen if you plan to stream. Or a new Ryzen 5 / 7 + AM4 mobo!
