I recently bought a cheap HP Z400 Workstation Intel Xeon W3520 2.67GHz 14GB Ram 1TB HDD which came with a quadro 2000. I would like to boost my FPS in games but have a budget of no more than £175. I play Heroes and Generals with all setting on low and still only manage 30/40 FPS. Any help or advice on what cards, where to get ect would be appreciated. Thanks, Iain

There are different versions of the gtx 1050, not only is there a 1050 and a 1050ti, GeForce just makes the core of the GPU, they don't make the fans etc, so it depends on what type of the card you are buying, i recommend you the EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC GAMING here's a link

If you buy this one there is no power connectors and it takes up 1x PCI-E 3.0 16x, you only have PCI-E 2.0 slots on that motherboard, but it doesn't really matter, just plug it in as usual, you might get like 2-5 fps less, but it's still a fantastic card.
Hope this answers your question
I would recommend you the GeForce GTX 1050, it is a cheap card and you get a lot of performance, if you buy the GeForce gtx 1050, then you should be able to play most fps games on medium-high with a stable 60fps. You could also try to find some second hand cards if you don't mind
If you dont like the GeForce gtx 1000 series, then you should probably start looking on some of AMD's cards.
Hope this answers your question, sorry for the bad grammar

Remember to buy the 4gb version of the 1050 instead of the 2gb, they are basically the same price, and you get a lot more if you buy the 4gb version

Thank you very much, great help! I've checked online and found some good prices, anyone know of any websites to search for the cheapest deals?

Sorry for the delay, my router crashed.......
I dont live in the UK, so i cant tell you where to buy it, but i checked all parts and they should be compatible
Here's a link to a website that i use a lot when building or modifying computers, might help you out
https://pcpartpicker.com/
Also i found a YouTube video so you can check the performance of the GeForce GTX 1050ti(it's called ti because of the 2 extra gigabytes of ram. You get a lot more if you get the ti version instead of the stock one.)

There is a lot of different brands who make the GTX 1050ti, i would recommend you get the EVGA version, because it only has 1 fan, and the case is pretty small, so i don't know if the other version will fit into the case.
Here's a link to the EVGA card, you shouldn't buy the card from their official site, but it gives you an estimated price for the card, and an overview of what you can expect from the card.

Just to clear things up, the GTX 1050ti from EVGA, doesn't take a power cable, it takes directly form the PCI slot, and the PCI can only output 75w at max, and that's more than enough for the 1050ti, so you dont have to worry about the power consumption.(The 1050ti from EVGA never actually takes up 75w, usually it takes up 40-60 watt)
Hope this will help you out :)

My current card is in one slot and i believe i have a spare x16 below it in this picture. So it's a simple connect graphic card to board and no power cable? Thanks so much for the help guys, really appreciated :)
