My wife is pressing me to replace her semi-functional, 5 year old Dell Inspiron laptop and I had started looking for something with the following specs:

  • 13-15" screen size
SSD drive of any size capable of running Windows 10
No optical drive (looking to save on weight)
must have a wireless card (I say this only because some Lenovo Outlet stuff doesn't list it)
    Under $500

Going to be used mostly for web-based applications (I'd gladly have gone to a Chromebook for her. but the copier guys our office uses don't seem to be able to get our printers or the printer accounting software to jive with Google Cloud printing). I might install a couple of my favorite open source things (Gimp, Inkscape) in case I need to do some marketing stuff for her but nothing crazy in size.

I had been scouring some of the outlets (Dell, Lenovo) and refurbs (Newegg, MicroCenter) for something and my wife sprung the "I don't use my iPad any more but I liked some of the utility of presenting things to clients with it, so what about a convertible type laptop?"

I'm overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff out there, and the fact that a lot of the outlet sites are horribly organized in terms of filtering specs. Does anyone have a couple of recommendations on something in the convertible or 2-in-1 style that fits the above specs?

offroadguy - you're going to love this. So I get distracted and never finished purchasing that Flex 4 at Newegg (the SSD version) and they sell out. I was going to go ahead and purchase the HDD version and decide to look at MicroCenter (I've got one on the other side of town) and they have the Flex 4 14 open box SSD version for $379! Sold American!
