I am building my first computer and am having a bit of trouble. My cpu led stays on for about a second only after my dram led flashes.
Specs:
Asus Sabertooth Z77
I5-3750
Cooler Master 612
500GB western digital
EVGA 600 BQ
MSI GeForce GTX 1050 TI

I had a i5-2400 before I ordered the 3750 as I thought it would be the processor since the cpu light was on. But now that I'm thinking about it, it could be the power supply since it does turn on then off.

Solution
Do you mean the I5-3570?? There is no 3750.

Look at the sticker on the mobo the last 4 numbers have to be 1015 or higher to support the I5-3570

Core i5-3570 (3.4G,L3:6M,iGPU,4C,VT-d,77W,rev.N0) ALL 1015

If the last 4 numbers are under 1015, use BIOS flashback to flash the BIOS.

Get the latest BIOS. read the manual on how to use BIOS flashback

So, what is the problem? It doesn't boot? Are you troubleshooting or asking about upgrading?

it doesnt POST or anything. the fans spin then turn off. but the dram lights flashes once and the cpu led stays on for a second the it loops.

Alright, in this case try booting the system with one dimm of RAM in slot one. See if it posts. If it doesn't then try without any RAM and see if you get an error/beeps. You are using a 3570k CPU?

EDIT: To further clarify this RAM process, if it doesn't POST after RAM is only in slot one, try a different slot, and then try the other RAM stick as well. This will eliminate RAM as the issue.

ive tried with one dimm in slot one and in every other slot. it did the same thing. I tried with no RAM and it does the same flash the dram led and the cpu led turns on then off. if it helps the cooler fan spins. the psu fan spins. the graphics card fans spin. ive tried it without the graphics card, same thing happens.

Did you try both dimms of RAM as well to ensure one of them wasn't bad?

Does the CPU fan spin? (Just realized you probably referred to this when you said "cooler fan", but just checking) Ensure that the CPU fan is plugged in. If it does spin, try clearing the cmos. You likely will do so via a jumper, but consult your manual on that process.

Another thing to check is your socket - make sure none of the pins are bent.

If none of that works or is the problem, you're likely looking at a new MB.

I did all that and the same thing is happening. I had a different MB before this one and it did the same thing so im not sure.

Could you list all that you have done? You've tried two CPU's, Two MB's, cleared CMOS, Tried both sticks of RAM singularly in the DIMM slots, and?

Were they the same motherboard?

I've tried two CPU's, two MB's, cleared CMOS, tried both sticks of RAM in singularly in the DIMM slots, ive tried different RAM speeds and brands. if I need a new MB, do you have any suggestions?

So you've tried taking the GPU out and just plugging the display into the motherboard?

Also, unhook all peripherals. HDD, CD/DVD drives, etc, and then try. For clarity - from the motherboard unplug all Sata, USB, HD audio connections.

This boot loop... was the PC working at one point? What was the original specs when the loop started? The mutiple hardware configs is making it hard for me pinpoint the issue. Could you lay it out more clearly?

it was not working at one point. yes I have tried unplugging the GPU and done that. all peripherals were unhooked. the original specs are above.

Well, the fact you've tried two MB's and CPU's makes me very hesitant to suggest it being a MB or CPU problem.

The last things it could be is a short caused by your case, or it's the power supply. Pull everything out of the case and reassemble on a box of some sort. Try it there, and see if it works.

A computer is only 3 parts, realistically. The CPU, Motherboard, and the PSU. Other parts can go bad, but as a tech most of the time when it's POST issues, it's one of those three. You've tried the other 2 in multiples, so PSU is the next culprit to look at. If it's not that, you have some real bad luck. I'd go with another MB from there, I'll check some out for you.

Also, could you clarify which processors you have? 3750 isn't a processor I'm aware of.
