My DIN plug has too many pins! Can I remove one?

Hi, I am trying to charge a 12V Quantum Turbo battery with a female DIN connector socket. To do this I have just bought a 12V Bolt BO 1010 charger with the same size male DIN plug as my battery. It is only just now when I opened the box the charger came in and tried to connect it with my battery that I realize it has one more pin in its male DIN plug than the battery has in its female DIN socket - apart from this it is exactly the same size and all the other pins apart from the extra one in the charger plug are located in the exact same position as the female ones in the battery socket. Given the similarities I figure I can probably get this male charger DIN plug to fit into the female DIN socket if - and it is a big if for a newbie like me - I can figure out how to get rid of the offending pin. What I would like to ask is does this make sense, or am I crazy for even thinking about removing that pin? And if I am not, how ought I proceed?

But what you don't know is if the pins carry the same signal/voltage they are supposed to. I'd contact whoever you bought it from and ask them why it doesn't fit the battery. I wouldn't try to use it.
