This is my build it was a budget build. The pentium g4560 is like sold out everywhere and my processor (on back order at bhphotovideo) was further delayed by like 2 weeks. Now I'm getting impatient because my last part besides the processor will be here Friday. Is it worth it going from a $70 g4560 to a $200 i5 7500?

Its all compatible. The second link fps comment was made by the OP himself. Not sure what he meant as thats not the case. Also varies from game to game. For cpu heavy games like GTA5 or BF1 you will fins a lot of fps difference, if you run all the settings properly and drive proper resolution. Games these days tend to be more core hungry and having a true quadcore helps you in running them smoother than a hyper threaded chip.

If look at Intel i5 7500 is more popular choice (eventrhough there a Higher End for Non Overclock I5`s Intel i5 7600)

They should at least add Hyper Threading for Intel i5 7600 and Intel i5 7600K then that be a better choices.

just get for 20$ the G4620

One way to look at it, the i5 will last you through at least another GPU upgrade or two (assuming you upgrade to a mid-range GPU every 2 years), while the G4560 will be a bottleneck on your next GPU upgrade.

Also, AMD's drivers with mid-range GPUs tend to bottleneck dual-core (even w/ hyper-threading) CPUs anyway. Watch this video, especially around the 6-7min mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-aP0JqJkJ0&t=471s

@Hellfire13 your second link someone said that it's only an increase of like 0-5 fps. But I'm also looking for something faster for just everyday things. I have an i5 6200u in my laptop and idk if it's just cuz it's a laptop or if it's dual core but multitasking is very slow. Even having 8 tabs in google chrome makes it very slow. Also I am a computer science major so I want a processor that would be fast with programming if that is affected at all.
@The Paladin I was thinking of that but I thought about it and I'm paying already like $20 more just to get the g4560 faster and getting the g4620 is the same as spending an extra $40 for like 5% better performance. That's why I'm considering just going all the way and going from a budget build to a mid tier rig. I didn't want to spend that much but if spending $40 just to get an extra 5% is starting to sound like an option, then I don't want to buy that processor.

Depends on what you intend to use it for. If you're using it for gaming, then by all means, it would be worth it. In truth, if you're using it for just about anything other than just web browsing or checking e-mails, it would probably be worth it.

So would the i5 7500 be a good choice? It's slightly faster than the 6500 and it's the same price. And I remember I read that the 6400 6500 and 6600 were all basically the same so I think I'd stick with 7500 over 7600. Also the reason I'm choosing Kaby lake is cuz I already have a 2xx series motherboard the b250m to be exact. Also is it all compatible? I know it's the right socket and everything but I was planning to enable xmp to have my ram run at 2400. Would the i5 make anything different? I assume not because the 7500 and g4560 are both 7th gen but just wanted to make sure

I purchased the i5 7500. The reason I don't consider ryzen at all is because I already purchased my motherboard and I don't want to go through a long cycle of getting a return and blah blah blah.
