ASRock RAM QVL list makes no sense. listed part numbers don't exist.

Hello,

i have an ASRock X370 Fatal1ty Pro on the way and was looking at their Memory support list. I think my memory is on that list, but the model numbers they are posting don't make any sense. they don't follow the G.Skill naming convention. list is here: http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty%20X370%20Professional%20Gaming/#Memory

the item on the list which I think is my memory is written as "F4-3200CL14D-16GBTZ". the underlined letters are the letters that I think shouldn't be there. the memory I have is F4-3200C14D-16GTZR, which is the same thing as F4-3200C14D-16GTZ but with LED lights. because LEDs make your computer run faster and cooler, obviously. removing those underlined letters yields a part number that actually exists.

so if i am right, why is ASRock listing part numbers that don't exist? plausible deniability?

i know nothing about ASRock. I'm an Asus motherboard refugee searching for greener pastures after loosing much sleep and hair... Every high end Asus board I bought had problems. the ones I RMAed also had problems. so now every geek i know, every employee at my local Microceters, and their moms, have all suggested to go with ASRock. list of prior owned asus parts that were all trash, in case anyone cares: http://imgur.com/a/FatlK

If it's not a regional part or a regional identification number then it's probably an oopsie on ASRock's end. I usually use Gigabyte boards and there's often translation "issues" on their site. Could also be parts that haven't made their way into the retail channel or on to GSkill's site yet. Ryzen specific perhaps. You could ask our GSkill rep. Just send him a PM. He's always very helpful.

IDK why I failed at comprehension when I read your post the first time. I plead sleep deprivation.

Ryzen is super picky with memory right now. BIOS updates have helped but I believe you still need modules made with the latest Samsung B-die ICs to reach speeds over DDR4 2933. I THINK all 3200/14 is based on the B-die ICs but it's possible some isn't. Also being so new it might take a while for the QVL to be updated. That's more likely in my opinion. Was that even what you were asking? :p

GSkill also sells worldwide as does ASRock. There may be model numbers listed that aren't available in your region.

i know about the quality of ICs situation. i checked the exact part numbers ASRock listed against g.skills website and on the internet in general. they don't exist. my question was, is ASRock listing the part numbers wrong. and if so, why?

I have this same issue with ASRock and their QVL. I had much better luck tracking down Corsair memory on their list. It seems simple enough to pick ram that's on the list, but it doesn't help if you google the model numbers and come back with nothing in some cases.

How do you verify if a model is using specific Samsung parts anyway? How do I know the RAM is single rank or not (when you can't see physically)?

I have the AB350 Fatal1ty board... and the only (huge) problem I have with the board is the memory compatibility. I also noticed that overclocking the cpu was necessary for using higher than standard memory timings. I admit only having basic knowledge of the BIOS settings, but the BIOS also seems equally basic. All I really want to do is run my ram at the fastest speed possible without having to overclock anything else at the moment.

MAybe your memory isnt listed yet? Those lists are often updated within 1 or 2 years of launching the board...

ASRock was once part of ASUS, as in their cheaper brand, nowadays they split their ways
