Should I build an Ivy Bridge PC?

Well I'm building a PC for mostly rendering and playing Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. But I have little budget for it. I won a GTX 980 from a giveaway and now I want to build an i7 to go with it since I think it will cover much of my need. The point is building a PC with 7th or 6th gen i7 is way too expensive since I'm only a university student. Therefore I think I would go with an Ivy Bridge i7-3770. It's on sale at a local store in my country at 165$ comparing to an i7-6700 at 322$. So the question is should I go with it or with a newer gen CPU?

Then go for the i7. It is a great deal, yes. You better grab it before it is over.

If you went with a Haswell option, that would net you the most benefit provided you're currently working on a system that is lower by at least 2 generations than what you have.

To be honest, it's not just the processor, other components like the ram, PSU, chassis and ofc the storage you're getting on the deal can and will be del breakers or even deal makers. Can you please pass on a full system's sepcs of the deal? Oh + the full system's specs of what you're working with right now...?

List them as:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
Storage:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

You don't actually need i7 to game that bad. Getting an 7th Gen i5 would be a great choice. It might cost you ~$200 but it'd be more durable since its' model is newer, and more compatible with other motherboards nowadays. The new cores will support more types of technology than the old ones too.

But that's just my suggestion, so it's your choice. I believe that either an old i7 or a new i5 will deliver good performance.

Good luck!

I could have done that if only the price wasn't so hyped in Vietnam. An i5-6500 is 270$ because of VAT. That's why I'm looking into older rigs since they're much cheaper.

this whole build is on sale since they're clearing the stock for Ryzen 5. The build cost a total of 450$ in US.
CPU: i7-3770
Motherboard: MSI H77MA-G43
Ram: 8GB Kingmax bus 1333
Storage: Seagate 1TB
PSU: SAMA 450W
Case: SAMA Esport 1

I would have looked for Haswell, too but sadly the i7-4770 and 4770s are out of stock.

Also, my current PC specs are:
G2030, Asrock H81 mobo, 4GB Hynix, 400W PSU with a 500GB Seagate. No output graphics card.
