I7700 high temperatures with stock cooler?

Hello,

I recently bought a gaming pc. But after testing with some temperatures I had a question regarding my cpu temperature.

My i7 7700 (non K) with the stock cooler runs idle around 30-33 degree celsius. But when I am playing the witcher 3 for example it mostly runs around 69/70 but also sometimes peaks to 74 degree celsius.

Is this a problem, or do you have any tips? And what is the max temperature for this cpu?

Kind regards,

Eliteknight

70C under load is ok for this cpu and cooler, don't be too worried about that. If you want those temps down, look for aftermarket coolers, good budget option is Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.

The stock cooler was merely designed to cool the processor(and prevent it from reaching it's maximum thermal threshold) which also means it wasn't designed to keep it below 60Deg C. If you are indeed looking at temps below the numbers stated you're going to have to look at aftermarket coolers.

FYI, your ambient temps and the airflow in your case will also determine the temps on your processor(and the rest of the innards). Which is why you should include your full system's specs. List them as:
CPU:
Motherboard;
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

The short answer, those temps are fine and within margin of what the stock cooler should be doing.

Okay thanks for your quick answer!

Here is my full system's specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 7700 (non K)
Motherboard; Asus Republic of Gamers Strix Z270F Gaming
Ram: 2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO
HDD: Seagate Desktop 1TB
GPU: Asus Republic of Gamers Strix GTX 1080 A8G Gaming
PSU: Cooler Master G650M
Chassis: Aerocool Aero 800
OS: Windows 10 Home Edition
Fans: 2 stock coolers in the case and two Be quiet! Pure WIngs 2 PWM

The airflow out of my case feels mostly cool and my GPU never reaches high temperatures, so I guess the airflow and cooling is sufficient.
