Hi! I recently decided to host a private server to mess around with friends on. The game is CS:GO and the primary port to forward is 27015. I forwarded this port and a couple others. UDP AND TCP for the 27015 port. I have set my desktop ipv4 to static 192.168.0.9 and reserved this ipv4 on the router as well.

External is all 0.0.0.0 and the local is 192.168.0.9. My arris surfboard SBG6400 router says the ports are forwarded however im getting a connection time out whevere a friend attempts to connect to the server or I test the port using canyouseeme.org

I have enabled ip routing via the registry, but im stuck.

These can be tough to find sometime. There are really only 3 main things that cause this. First your ISP may have restrictions on that port...mostly this is things like port 25 or port 80. It can be a config issue in your router. And last your PC itself may be blocking it either with a firewall rule or maybe the program is not actually on that port.

Although a pain I would convert your router to a modem only and plug your PC directly into the modem. You should then get the external ip assigned directly to your pc. This will quickly allow you to eliminate the pc or the ISP as your problem. Be aware windows sets different firewall rule sets by default when it sees pubic ip so it can add a new problem sometime.

You should be...

When you set the static IP (192.168.0.9) on your desktop did you also set the subnet mask (probably 255.255.255.0) and the Default Gateway IP to match your router? Most likely 192.168.0.1 (being the default IP for the Arris SBG6400 router).

Also check the MAC used to reserve the IP for your desktop.

You should be able to see messages in the firewall logs on windows. You could also load wireshark. This will show packets that come to the pc even if they are eventually blocked or dropped.
