It's the battle for the best 1080p GPU! And you might just help your favorite company earn an extra $280! So I'm going for ultra 1080p, I'm going to need at least 6GB of VRAM because games I play are relatively VRAM intensive. So please, not fanboy opinions, just clear answers.

1060 6gb is ~2% faster on average in DX11 over the 480 8gb
480 8gb is ~6% faster on average in DX12 and Vulcan over the 1060 6gb

Basically, get whichever has a better price. IMO, the 480 will age better as games move to or add DX12 and Vulcan. AMD has been benefiting from DX12 much more and it's only getting better. I haven't heard of any kind of refresh of the product lines, so I'm interested in info on that as well.

For the 480 I recommend Sapphire, ASUS or XFX cards. For the 1060 I suggest ASUS or EVGA.

Ooooo, 2 weeks. Now that's something to wait for! Do you have any extra info on that?

Do not expect anything major- but at least some upgrade is coming. GTX1060 is getting 9gbps speed memory instead of 8gbps (but not sure when exactly it is to be released), while AMD cards are getting higher GPU clocks, and are expected to release on Apr.18 or before that. Leaks (with placeholder prices- do not mind those) show preorders may be starting even sooner: https://videocardz.com/67841/sapphire-radeon-rx-500-series-also-listed-online
