Should I upgrade my FX-6300 to 8xxx or just build a new rig?(Read budget in description)

Solution
For gaming? go with a new build, the 2 extra cores will only help to keep the FPS you currently have if you were to do streaming, but it won't increase your gaming performance at all.

Now which new build will depend on any other devices you can salvage from your current build.

I agree with the other guys. What are all your components, what can you move forward to a new build... PSU? GPU? Cooler? Case? Interested in Intel or AMD? etc.

I have a 6350 and I would never upgrade that to an 8xxx anything. Can you OC your 6300 at all? For $500 you can get a nice new build but that is wholly dependent on how many new components you need to buy. Mobo, CPU and RAM at a minimum.

Well here's my specs right now:
CPU: FX-6300 (Using cooler that came with the CPU)
Mobo: MSI 970A SLI Krait Edition
RAM: PNY DDR3 1x8GB (forgot the mhz but I think it was 1600)
GPU: Palit 750 Ti StormX OC
Storage: PNY 120GB SSD
PSU: EVGA 600B
Case: Phanteks P400 (Grey)

As for AMD or Intel, while I really would like to get some Ryzen action, I don't think my budget would be sufficient due to the price points of Ryzen chips and chipsets on the market right now. I'd like to make video production every now and then. As for gaming, I mainly play League of Legends and want to try other E-Sports titles such as CSGO and Overwatch.

Have you considered just hanging on for a bit? The mainstream/budget Ryzens are just now starting to be released and they may have a price point that you feel comfortable at. I expect them, based on the quality of their higher-end CPUs, to brush aside the FX era just as well as Intel's last generations have.
