I installed a SSD, and when the computer turns on the lights/motherboard lights turn on, fans spin, etc.

However, the HDD light doesn't flash, keyboard and mouse lights don't tirn on.

I unplugged the SSD and that didn't help, also all the wires are plugged in correctly.

Asus z97 deluxe motherboard, r9 290, i5 4590, 16gigs of ram (added 8 when i added in the ssd), 1tb hdd. Very high end 550w psu. So i don't think its a psu issue.

Super reluctant to go to a computer repair shop.

Solution
So you added SSD and RAM. How many sticks of RAM you had/have now?
OS was on HDD right? Want to keep it this way or trying to make SSD boot drive now?

As a quick guess, check if your new ram is fully seated. Twice.

I want to keep OS on the HDD. I have 4 sticks of 4gb each, all the same type, but the new ram is low profile, which isn't really an issue i think.

The little clips that keep the ram locked are kind of loose, will seen5 if i can jerry rig them tight.

EDIT- The ram was loose and I secured it, but the problem is still there...UGGGHH
