Old computer: hp pavilion slimline s3713w desktop operating windows Vista home premium. It is ethernet capable but does not have a wireless network driver. I am okay with doing upgrades to windows but the only USB wifi adapters I can find work with windows 10. Is it possible to upgrade to windows 7 premium then windows 10? I really don't want to have to pay for Windows 10. Where the computer will be in the home is impossible to use ethernet.

If you can find a Wireless card that has Windows 7 drivers, they would probably work for Windows Vista. The free upgrade period from Windows 7/8/8.1 to Windows 10 ended a long time ago, but there are some reports that if you use a Windows 7 key to download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool, it still works.

the CDROM is completely broken so I wouldn't be able to install anything via CD. However, I went to the manufacturer website and downloaded the installation software for a USB wireless adapter I already have for another computer in the home, I decided to try it once again and it worked!! I noticed that the particular adapter I had was indeed capable with Windows Vista so I took the plunge and it worked. Thank you all for your suggestions.
