i5 4570 vs AMD 1700 ($329 version)

Could anyone give me any advise on if AMD 1700 would be a worth while upgrade over the i5 4570 that I currently run?

Another question, is the AMD 1700 and upgrade over the i7 6700?

Just use for gaming. I have it paired with a gtx 1070 Asus Turbo right now.

It's actually a minor downgrade to do that if you're only gaming.
1700s and 1600Xs (and above) are going to fall behind in gaming slightly, so it's not an upgrade from what you have currently.

If you're doing gaming + streaming, then it is.

Not really no. If looking to play some games like bf1 that make use of hyper threading you'd be better off buying an i7 for your current system, something like a 4790 or 4790k. Even if it's similarly priced to the ryzen cpu it won't require new ram and a new mobo along with a reinstall of windows. That makes ryzen considerably more expensive since it means a completely new platform and the gaming performance won't be better if as good as an i7. Ryzen's made strides over the fx but the ipc is still weaker than intel's and most games still rely on core performance vs a large heap of cores.

Thanks guys for the input, just was getting caught up in the Ryzen hype a little, sounds like I need to stay put. I have looked into the i7 4790 though, seems to be a very comparable processor to the i7 6700, but the price is just too high, not sure if I'd see any real benefits.

Showing a small gain in single core performance for the R7 1700. However, at the moment you have no reason to upgrade unless you just want to for the hell of it. You're in that generation where the real performance gains ground to a halt and may just now be starting to pick up again.
