Hello guys :)

I want to upgrade my rig and since I'm new to this I figured I was gonna ask you for some tips / advices.

First of all, my current setup:

*Case: Corsair Carbide SPEC-03 Midi Tower

*PSU: Corsair VS550 550W KPC Bulk Edition

*Motherboard: ASUS B85M-GAMER, Socket-1150

*RAM: HyperX Fury DDR3 1866MHz x4 (16gb)

*CPU: Intel i7-4790k (not overclocked)

*CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i CPU Cooler

*GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 6GB DUAL OC

*SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5" SSD

*SSHD: some random SSHD 1TB

So this is my setup right now.

I mostly use my computer playing games (overwatch/cs:go/wow/LoL/Quake/++) and sometimes I'm editing movies. I just bought the CPU&GPU and I'd like to keep these.

My games run pretty smooth with this setup but I feel like some changes are needed.

My budget is around 800/ 1100 USD. (Meaning I can stretch it to 1100 if it's really worth it)

What can / should I upgrade? I want a new case / new motherboard.

Any tips / advices / help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance :- )

Yeah I agree, there's no reason to upgrade the CPU. Upgrading from a 4790K to a 7700K would only yield about a 15% increase in CPU performance and it's not worth the investment. If you want to upgrade your CPU wait and take a look at the R5s which should be dropping this week but upgrading to another Intel board won't really result in much of a performance...

Nothing, save your money.

Your computer is excellent already.
If there is something not running fast enough or smooth enough, then upgrade.
Don't just upgrade for no reason.

Maybe you should consider the new Titan Xp since you must have money to burn.
$1,200 for the best video card money can buy.
Might need to pair that with a 4K monitor though.

I would only possibly get a new GPU and monitor. If you are running a 1080p monitor, then I would upgrade to something like a 1440p or a 1440p wide and then you'd want at least a GTX1070 or 1080. I would also try to get a decent gold rated PSU, your current one isn't all that great.

I do agree that upgrading your GPU would be the way to go, but a Titan X might be overkill depending on monitor resolution. I'd slap a 1080TI in there and call it a day. If you want to spend the difference then upgrade your monitor.
