ASUS RX 480 Strix oc fan noise/swap?

I have an ASUS RX480 Strix oc.
For the most, I can't complain. I have played with overclocking with GPU Tweak and settled on 1441 core 1.260 volts 8170 memory power target 150. I can get higher, but the returns for voltage to clock just do not seem worth it to me.
So, in theory, the card is good.... but, the noise!
on the overclock, with fans at 75%, the temps are 72 degrees, but loud.
I am playing Mass Effect Andromeda at the moment with stock 1310 settings, but again, the noise is not great.
For the most, with speakers or headphones, not an issue. My PC is on the landing though and if wife and/or kids are in their rooms, it's very noticeable.
My questionis is this, assuming the fans and heatsink are more than up to the job, just loud, can I replace the fans with quieter options?
I have two Phanteks 120mm fans that came with the P400 case (replaced with 2 140 Phanteks sp140 at front and Noctua 120 redux at rear). Could I use these for same performance but quieter fan noise> Can I get better direct fit fans?
I have a Be Quiet dark Rock TF and that dude is pretty damn silent. Previous cooler was a Noctua NH-L12 and that dude was again pretty damn silent.
Would ditching the Fans and rigging up 2 x 120 fans be quieter? Even stock 1310 core is not too quiet when gaming!

Thank you for any help in advance.

Nature of the beast .... the 480 uses up over 200 watts in typical gaming while the 1060 is down around 120 or so. That 67% increase in power means the fans have to work a lot harder to keep the GPU cool.

You can mitigate it tho.....

Out of the box, the [Asus Strix] card emits 39 dBA - more than the GTX 1060/1070/1080 reference boards and much more than the custom variants of those cards we've reviewed. I did a quick test with the temperature target set to 75°C instead of 65°C, and here, the STRIX goes down to around 30 dBA, which is what I would have expected of the card. Let's hope ASUS addresses...

Thanks,
I played around a bit with asus tweak and settled with 1310 core 1100mv power target 110 temp target 85 and a custom fan curve.
Tested with a few runs of Fire strike and timespy and an hour of ME Andromeda.
Completely stable. Core staying spot on 1310 power draw 1080mv max, temp holding at 77 and fans running silent, as best as I can tell.
Thanks for that.
Would putting 2 x 120mm fans on the heatsink instead of the 3 x 90 ones make much if any difference?

Thanks,

Lee

Hi, I recently bought an Asus Strix RX 480 OC 8GB, and, like you, I'm noticing a loud noise coming from the fans. Could you please tell me how did you set it with GPU Tweak? And what custom fan curve did you use? I'm having trouble figuring that out. Thanks in advance!

I played again after getting 83-84 degrees while playing ME Andromeda for over an hour, but JackNaylor was right in the fact that you can swap temps for noise.
GPU Tweak, top right hand corner has the settings wheel, minimalise dash and close x. Click on the settings wheel and under tuning settings check the two boxes for enhanced tuning range and apply settings on start up. Apply and click on home
There is a little circle with an arrow in bottom right with professional mode. Click that. You can adjust voltages and clocks etc in here and save the settings on new profiles. There is a lock for (little red chain) for clock and voltage as well as power target and temp target. You can unlock these by clicking the red chain.
You need to raise the target temp as the clocks throttle when the temps go above this number. Doesn't need much voltage this card but power target is quite important if you are overclocking. I.E I got 1375 stable with stock 1150mv but power target 150. 1310 runs happy as larry at 1100mv but needs power target at 120. on my card at least.
Fan curve- underneath fan speed are three options. AUTO - MANUAL - USER DEFINED. click user defined and then the setting wheel next to it. It will give you a graph where you can set points for temp/speed. I currently have T60/F40 T80/F50 T85/F55 T95/F100.
Results depend on your current case cooling. I find up to 40% is quite fine, start to hear a bit around 43-44% and noisy but bearable up to 47-48%. over 50% gets loud. 70% is like an old black and decker drill on high speed.
Hope this helps. Give us a shout if I can help further.
