Don't buy the 1060 unless you can get the 6GB would be my advice, 3GB isn't enough for a new card and the core is cut down. If you're on 1080p 60Hz I would honestly favor the RX 480 over the 1060 because it's cheaper.

or if you have a small case

cards here a more expensive but i think il go for 6GB then
But what one to get ?
what version ?
thats just nonsence get the 3gb version.
no games in 1080p use more than 3gb vram , NONE of them.
also the 1060 6gb ram is about 5% faster, can u tell the difference between 60 fps and 57 fps?, i couldnt and i doubt you can.and for what? for 50 more euros?.
get the 3gb
Not true there are plenty of games that bust the 4GB barrier at 1080P...call of duty advanced warfare, assassins creed unity, grand theft auto v, batman arkham knight and thats just to name a few. The OP wants the 6Gb version. Honestly I have no idea why nvidia bothered with a 3GB card at all with the demands of today's modern games.
not true, prove it.
VERY WRONG. I have an 8GB card and run Afterburner in all my games at 1080p High/Ultra. I know plenty of games that push over 3GB and i can list them. Witcher 3 (~3.2GB), Star Citizen (~4.1GB), Total War Warhammer (~3.5GB), GTA V (~4GB), ARK Survival Evolved (~3.7GB), Assassin's Creed Syndicate (~3.9GB). The list could go on but i don't see why bother, I agree with the GTX 1060 3GB being a terrible move by Nvidia considering the RX offers 4GB at both the competitor (RX 480) and lower tier (RX 470) and Nvidia themselves put 4GB on the lower card (1050 Ti). You can most definitely breach the 3GB barrier in modern games at 1080p High/Ultra settings. Even then, most others games start to pry at 3GB on the dot which is leaving little to no headroom in the future.
*Edit* I don't exactly take screenshots all day while gaming but here is 2 example:
