Upgrading Mobo, CPU and RAM. Do I need to upgrade my OS for this setup?

So my current PC is still running windows 7. I'm upgrading to an i5-7600k Kaby Lake, ASRock Z270 Mobo, and G.Skill Ripjaw V 16gb (2x8gb) RAM. Do I need to purchase windows 10 or can I still run windows 7 with this new setup?

Solution

Yes, I am.
To date, I see no big advantage so I will continue with 7, at least for a while.
I have 10 on two laptops because that is the only way they sell them these days.
I am not particularly impressed.
I really dislike having little control over when updates are done.

You have to work hard to get the instrumentation turned off. They want to collect a lot of stuff about what you do.
That is not a biggie...
I had no problem running windows 7 I5-7600K on a Z170 motherboard.

You will not get support from Intel for integrated graphics or optane support without windows 10.
Likely, you will boot and only need to install the new motherboard drivers.

Are you still using windows 7? I'm still hesitant to upgrade to windows 10.

That is not a biggie, but I resent taking the resources to do it.

The look is kink of childish also.
Functionally, it is ok, but if you want to get into the bios, or dual boot, it can be a hassle.
I am amazed that after two years, there are still problems.

Agreed, that's why I'd like to stick with Windows 7 since I still have my install disc. Is your i5 a Kaby Lake?
