I'm planning on building a Windows 98 machine. I may not need perfect DOS compatibility, but at least ok because I want to play a couple more common games. I would also like a Voodoo card for running Quake. Which graphics card and which 3dfx card should I pick out?

Can't help you with that, sorry.

But may I sugest that you research the option of a virtual machine? Like simulate a W98 enviorment on your current machine.SOmething like VMware or VirtualBox?

I have a Win98 gaming box running Voodoo4. Quake2 and Unreal Tournament look great.

Would recommend you stick with VooDoo 4 or 5 for the graphics power. Both of which have Win98 drivers available.

Be aware value of 3dfx cards has skyrocketed in recent months. Used VooDoo5 regularly fetch over $200 on Ebay. Glad I had my 4 from when it was new in year 2000. Would not pay those high prices these days.

Yeah, but do you have a ball mouse? :D
I have those games on my modern rig too. Still like the retro rig built with old left over hardware.
