Help overclocking i5-4690k

Haven't been overclocked yet but I really want to learn and try to overclock it higher than 4.0GHz
I'll be honest I'm a beginner but I seriously want to learn step by step procedures because reading other forums and websites tutorial doesn't really explain much. Thanks in advance for trying.
Specs are:
CPU: i5-4690k
MOBO: MSI Z97 Intel LGA 1150 DDR3
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G1, 80+ GOLD 750W
CPU cooler: Corsair H100i gtx
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 8gb (2x4gb)
GPU: GTX 1080 strix

There are tons of guides out there, with step-by-step instructions. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1722630/intel-god-quick-dirty-guide-4ghz-haswell.html is a quick way to OC for example.

What you need to understand is that there will be trials and errors, well not always but still.
You need to bump up the CPU multiplier to lets say x42, which is 4200mhz aka 4.2ghz, and increase the voltage to support that increase. that said voltage could range between 1.160 up to 1.220 depending on your chip.

You usually increase it bit by bit, baby steps so to speak, and then stress test it with prim96, IBT or whatever you want. If it's stable you can go ahead and increase it more, both cpu multiplier and voltage.
