Hello, i just want to know if the gigabyte h110m ds2 ddr3 is compatible with i7 7700k.

My i7 4790k stopped working and my old LGA 1150 mobo wouldnt support new gen CPUs. Since i still have a working 16gb ddr3 ram and don't want to upgrade it as of now. I just want to know if the chosen cpu would fit on the said board without losing its lifespan and power.

I know there would be some sort of bottleneck because of the low end mobo but still would that be noticable? If so could you perhaps recommend an alternative mobo for i7 7700k with ddr3 support.

Thank you very much. Any logical answers would much be appreciated.

Unless you buy a compatible Skylake CPU, you'll have to take it to a computer shop.

If you dont want to buy a B250 / Z270 mobo. Which will be more compatible.

Some shops may do it for a small fee.

They would have to install a compatible Skylake CPU first (that the BIOS thats on it now supports).

Update the BIOS to F20a (to support the 7700K). Then install the 7700K

The BIOS update is on the GIgabyte site
It is compatible, but it needs a BIOS update to support a Kaby Lake CPU

But the only way you can update it, is you'll have to buy/borrow a Skylake CPU. Update the BIOS. Then install the 7700K

Or you'll have to take it to a shop

Or replace it with a B250 / Z270 mobo

There's a DDR3 and DDR4 mobo. The DDR3 mobo needs BIOS F20a (the latest BETA bios) to support that CPU

Intel Core i7-7700K 4.20GHz 8MB 350 MHz / 1150 MHz KabyLake 14nm B0 91W 100 F20a

Sorry if my question seems so dumb but where would I get the bios upgrade if I dont have a skylake cpu? Do shops usually has an available means to upgrade it easily?

Sounds risky. What happens if I dont upgrade the bios while the 7700k is inserted and being run?

Could a 1151 ddr3 mobo even run a ddr3-1866 with 7700k on it?

If i have to upgrade to ddr4, what mobo would you recommend?

"What happens if I dont upgrade the bios while the 7700k is inserted and being run?"

Your PC will not even POST with an unsupported processor, so you wouldn't be able to update the BIOS anyway - - you wouldn't be able to do anything in fact (except turn off the PC -- lol)

Because it won't POST, that's why a supported processor has to be fitted to accomplish the BIOS update.
