So recently i've installed Kali linux 2.0 on Virtualbox and I wanted to learn how to use it..
I have a tp link wn721n network adapter plugged into my pc(usb) and when I launch kali it disconnects the adapter on my windows, asid you unplugged it, and it doesnt work at all unless i turn off kali and replug the adapter in. I have the network set to "bridged Adapater" and then i selected my adapter..
In Kali when i do ping google.com it doesnt work nor does firefox.

It sounds like VirtualBox is claiming the USB device for direct access from the guest OS (Kali Linux in this case). Have a look under VBox's USB settings and see if there are any devices listed for passthrough.

If you just want to access the network through the WiFi adapter, while still using it on Windows, then setting it as a bridged adapter is probably the most straightforward way to do it. It shouldn't be passed through to the VM as a USB device.

If you don't need to use the adapter in Windows but want to access it directly from Linux (for packet sniffing, for example) then it shouldn't be configured as a network adapter for the VM and should be set up using USB passthrough and the relevant driver on the Linux side (the ath9k_htc driver, I believe).

Hello.. under USB and USB Device Filters there is ATHEROS USB2.0 WLAN (1080) and "enable usb controller" is selected..
I dont really need it to work on windows i just want it to work primarily on kali linux..

Currently its set in Bridged Adapter and it doesnt seem to be working. It disconnects my adapter from windows and linux

So ill opt for it just working on kali linux... how should I set that up ? remove Bridged adapater ?

UPDATE : when i go to network and put NOT ATTACHED then open linux and try to to attach ATHEROS USB2.0 WLAN (1080) through Devices -> Usb it gives me an error

What error message do you get?

I can't test the configuration directly myself as I'm running VirtualBox under Linux with a Windows guest so it's probably a bit different but I got a message telling me I needed to install the VirtualBox Extension Pack when I tried to attach a USB2 flash drive to my Windows VM. Having installed the Extension Pack, I was able to attach it successfully. I don't know whether the Extension Pack is needed when running VBox on Windows or not.
