Computer shutting down under load

Hi All,

I've been looking at various responses on the forum regarding this topic, but still felt it warranted making a separate post and seeing if I'm looking in the right direction; I hope that's alright?

My rig's growing a bit old, I built it about 6 years ago and it runs fine performance-wise, but have been having an intermittent issue with the computer shutting off under load. Some games it's fine (EVE Online, Fallout New Vegas come to mind) others like Overwatch, despite no drop in performance, will result in the computer shutting off instantly without warning after an indeterminate amount of time.

I am assuming this is a dodgy power supply unit after 6 years of gaming on it. I have downloaded Speedfan as per other topic instructions but I am not quite savvy enough to figure out what I should be looking for on the program.

This assumption could be misguided - maybe it's the RAM? Or the hard drive? CPU? I am well aware that my hard drive is heavily fragmented after analysing with Defraggler.

Any thoughts?

Quick edit for specs:
PSU: OCZ OCZ600MXSP-UK ModXStream Pro 600W ATX
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 Quad 955 Core 3.2GHz
GPU: Sapphire AMD 7850 2GB (Manually set in radeon settings to: GPU Clock 860 MHz, Memory Clock 1200 MHz)
HDD: Hitachi Hds721010cla332 1TB Sata 7200rpm
RAM: Don't remember, 2 x 4GB DDR3 (I think)
OS: Win10 64 bit

Further edit for speedfan screeny:

What cooler are you using[strike], and have you overclocked it at all[/strike]?

Those CPU temperatures are really high.

Update: I checked, and the voltages are stock. The CPU cooler looks like it's dying, or perhaps the thermal paste has gone bad. Thermal paste normally doesn't go bad unless you heat it up a lot, though.

Thanks for replying. I don't believe I'm using any specific kind of cooling system besides the CPU heatsink/fan that sits atop the CPU. The GPU has 2 fans also, built-in.

I thought the CPU overheating was a candidate after reviewing speedfan a bit - I've ordered some canned air, thermal paste and isopropyl alcohol and am going to re-apply the paste and give the computer a good de-dusting. When I installed the CPU 6 years ago, I messed up a little and the paste wasn't perfect. I've certainly given it a good going over the past 6 years so perhaps the replacement will have some effect.

The GPU was overclocked slightly for a while, but brought it down again when the issue kept happening. I think it's unrelated to the GPU.

Further specs after digging through receipts:
RAM is G.Skill RipJaw 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit
CPU is actually AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 640 3.0GHz (Socket AM3) Processor
Motherboard: Asus motherboard M4A78LT-M LE AMD AM3 DDR3 mATX(S025038)
