Dear community,

I have this weird problem that whenever i startup a game my pc shuts down and restarts again. Recently I wanted to have more FPS on Arma 3, so i replaced my ATI Radeon 5850 1gb with a brand new EVGA GTX 1060 3gb. I still was using my old p6t SE asus motherboard with a old i7 920 2.6 GHz with 2 4gb ram ddr3 1600. But it didn't do much. I then decided to change my motherboard to a "Gigabyte B250M-DSEH", together with 2 brand new 4gb ballistick 2400 something, and last but not the least a new i7 7700k + pure rock slim cooler. Now a weird noice comes from my old psu " combatpowr 750w". It starts windows and everything but as soon as i start a game the noise becomes like a high pitched whining sound and my pc crashes.

The weird thing is that my old setup required more electricity then my new setup. My old graphic card, the ATI Radeon 5850 uses 2x 6 pin, the new EVGA uses only 1, then again when i installed my new graphic card on my old setuo i had a slight fps boost but without any problems.

Nothing is overheated and i have no further clue what to do. I want to try a new psu, a G750M from coolermaster, it cost me another $100. So i would like to know if someone could verify if my psu is indeed the problem, and if the new psu would solve this issue. I already invested too much, that is why this time i want to be sure.

All my drivers are also up to date.

If anyone needs more information, pictures or videos please let me know. Thanks in regards.

Solution
Time for a new PSU. The poor one you have is outdated and not compatible with your platform. Get something descent 50C rated and Haswell(even though you are on Kaby) compliant and you should be good.

@damric Would the Cooler Master G750M do the trick? And the way it is installed now, could it potentially harm my system and is it better to wait for the new psu? I want to thank you for your time reading my problem and helping me out.

Current installed specs:
I7 7700k 4.2 Ghz
EvGA GTX 1060 3gb
2x Ballistic 4gb RAM ddr4 (2400 something)
B250M-DS3H Gigabyte motherboard
HD103SJ (harddrive)

@vrumor i reinstalled windows, updated all the new drivers. So I think my answer to your question is yes. I am not very experienced yet with pc building. So forgive me if i say something stupid or wrong.

@vrumor Thank you a lot for your time. I the nearest shop they have a Seasonic G-750. Would this PSU be compitable with my current setup and solve my problem? Thanks in regards.

And stop using the PC until you've replaced the PSU.

If that rubbish one fails it could possibly kill some components, the graphics card being a potential victim as that uses more power than any other single component in the system.

Not being alarmist in saying that - - it has actually happened to others in the past who risked using an inadequate PSU with a gaming card.

The Seasonic is an excellent GPU, though you don't need 750W. If staying on the same series, I'd look at the Seasonic G 550W.

I want to thank everyone for their time and effort in advising and helping me out with my problem. Really much appreciated. Tomorrow I will buy and test the Seasonic G750. Will it harm my pc if i go for a psu that is 750 instead of a 550? Because in my city they don't have a seasonic lower then 750.
