I'm assuming it's a windows 10 issue (what isn't these days?) but here we go...

I made a budget pc and sold it to a friend recently. He's been having an issue where if he starts the computer and plays a game shorty after starting up windows, the game freezes and he has to hard reset. The CPU is a g3258 OC to 4.5 ghz. We moved it down all the way to 4.0 ghz so I'm still wary of it being an OC issue but I want some other insight on this. The issue only happens within 5-10 minutes after starting up, and the games he's playing aren't extremely taxing on the cpu.

Any contributions will be greatly appreciated!

simple question, did you test your overclock for stability ?

its not always the cores that are unstable in a bad overclock, it could be the memory controller, or on board north bridge etc.

after overclocking, if ive struggled to hit my targets and had lots of fails, once I do get it stable, I always format the computer and re-install everything, a bad overclock resulting in memory controller problems means bad data written back to and all over your hard drives.
