How do I fix this? It is my first ever build and it seems to not work. it worked for one week before randomly crashing while i was watching youtube. Occasionally during the that week, it would crash but after a few restarts it would work again. Now it refuses to boot up in windows 10 (it has the logo on the screen for 5 mins before BSODing) and i cant do a system restore as it says at the end that it couldn't restore the PC and everything has been returned to a state prior to when i began the restore. I'm really confused so cans someone please help?

Specs:
-R7 1700
-R9 380x
-gigabyte ab350 gaming
-1tb WD Blue 7200rpm
-EVGA 500w 80+
-Bitfenix Nova
-Team ELITE+ DDR4 2400MHz 8gb (2x4gb sticks)

It crashed while I was using youtube. It crashed often but after a few restarts, it would work again. Not this time though as it BSODed and it didn't boot up again without me facing a crash. I can access safe mode though.

It can't do a system restore as it ends up saying something went wrong and everything was reverted to prior the restore began. When I try to boot off of my installation USB stick, it BSODs while it is 'preparing for install'. I don't have any other DDR4 ram in my house and I tried all the RAM configurations but nothing seems to work. I have replaced the HDD and it did work for a week until this happened.

I was only watching Youtube with AVG & Avast free antiviruses, Skype and Steam running in the background when this crash occurred.

The Automatic diagnostics tool couldn't identify a problem and anytime I would start a disk repair tool, it would BSOD.

The BSOD message always changes from memory management to k file exception not handled to attempted to write in read-only space.

Is anything overclocked? Does it run fine till you install some program then crash? If you replaced the drive and re-installed Windows, either you installed something that just caused the same issue, or you have some other hardware issue. Usually RAM, could be motherboard, rarely CPU.

Nothing is overclocked but the CPU does OC itself a bit according to workload. The only things both the drives had downloaded in common were the drivers (from AMD and Gigabyte), skype and steam. For me, the problems began when I downloaded steam but I cannot have it not downloaded because it is a gaming machine after all and most of my games are on steam. I checked the RAM compatibility list for the motherboard that is on gigabyte's website and the kit I chose was there.

Is there anything else I can do?

Just seeing if the RAM "should" work with the motherboard does not mean it's not having issues. You said you already did a full clean Windows setup on a new drive correct? Or did you just copy the original drive to the new one as it was? Test the system with one RAM stick at a time see if it's stable then. If you did a clean Windows setup, it could be a hardware issue, maybe power supply since it crashes on low load. If you have onboard video, remove the card and test with onboard video only.

Yup, the new HDD has a clean install using the installation software. The same issue occurs when I use 1 ram stick in any of the slots but I tested this with my old HDD so I will do that. When I have the side panel off, the lights remain on while the crash occurs also the PC ran fine for a few days and all the crashes either had a freeze or a BSOD. I don't have onboard video because the motherboard doesn't have it and AMD hasn't released their APUs yet.

I will send the results of the ram stick test as soon as I have done the test.

If your EVGA PSU is not the SuperNova, that may be an issue also. Or at least their lower models are more likely to be an issue than the better ones. They are still not horrible, but the lower on the quality range you go, the more chance it may be the PSU.

Can the PSU randomly crash and cause a BSOD?

Also, I have found out that one of my 4gb sticks don't work so I will RMA the RAM. I know this because it won't post with just that stick in any of the slots. However, the PC won't boot up properly with just that 1 4gb stick.

The power supply does not really crash, but it can cause other components to not work properly. Just to verify things, you did find a bad stick, but you are saying that even with the second stick it also won't work? And even with a fully clean Windows setup it still crashes with a blurscreen right? So it started crashing and you did a new Windows setup, but it still would crash? And with the single good stick it still crashes?

The purple interface you get when you download windows crashes everytime I want to download it and every time I use the good stick, it shows the windows logo and the three moving dots underneath for about 15 mins before crashing.

The bad stick won't let the PC post at all.

So you did not do a clean Windows setup correct? Download the setup on another computer, you may want to also pick up another hard drive and do a clean setup on that. It could be a failing hard drive, especially with the several times you had to restart it from a hard crash.

I returned the failing hard drive, and I did a clean install on the new one, however, I don't want to get another HDD as it will be quite irritating if I have to replace it every week. Anyway everytime I replace the HDD something will pop up again. I am sure it is not the HDD. When I want to repair/reinstall windows onto this new HDD, the installer starts the process then BSODs.

Try another RAM stick, check for a newer BIOS for the motherboard if you have not, try resetting the BIOS with the jumper or pull the CMOS battery with the system unplugged. If the setup of Windows fails it is most often a RAM issue, sometimes the hard drive or motherboard.

This is the only kit of ddr4 I have at home and I have reset the CMOS many times without anything happening. I have changed the HDD once so I'm unable to check much off of that list I'm afraid
