CMOS battery failure or something else?

On Friday, I stepped away from my computer and returned to evidence of a BSOD. Since then, the time on my computer has been wrong. I've tried manually resetting it, syncing it to internet time, and running a malware scan without any effect. Every time I reset it, it seems to lose time again after several minutes.

My computer is many years old, but still in pretty decent working condition. Aside from having to replace a failed hard drive five years ago and a failed USB port - I haven't had any issues with it outside of some freezing fits every now and again. This BSOD was the first since my hard drive failure.

Any ideas what is going on? Do I need to replace my CMOS battery or prepare for the worst?

Thanks, Blackbird. Having a new issue arise now.

For the past week (since the start of my issue with time actually), I've noticed that computer loses its connection to the internet. It will give me the "limited connection/no connection" icon and then, as I hover over it, it will tell me "No internet connection." It seems to be picking up full strength. If I restart my computer or hit that wireless button to turn it on/off, it fixes it. No other issues with this on my other devices.

Any ideas?
