The PC we have connected to the TV had a fateful encounter with a glass of water and I need to get some new hardware. The CPU was a socket 1155 Core i5 and that was fine for what it was doing (mainly Netflix and video playback, YouTube, surfing and some gaming) Would a Intel Pentium G4400 be a good performance match compared to the previous CPU? If not, what would offer the same kind of performance (or better) at the cheapest price?

Solution
The G4560 is the current value king. Unlike the G4400, the G4560 has hyperthreading, and is more like a Core i3 in overall performance.
