So I have a AsRock H97m Pro4 Mobo with 2x4gb ddr3 already installed. I want to just more of the same 2x4gb to my PC. Right now both RAMsticks I already have are alternating slots. So if I want to add more RAM do I just simply put the new ones in the other 2 empty slots? (With the PC powered down and cable removed of course)

Yup. Just make sure that the new ram kit runs at the same frequency (getting a higher frequency kit will downclock the frequency to match the existing kit) as the older one.
Just make sure that you do not buy a kit with lower frequency than what you are running at currently.
eg if you are running at DDR3 1600Mhz dont buy a kit that runs at 1333Mhz or so. Get a 1600Mhz kit or higher.

...along a similar line. I have an ASUS p6T which id a 6 slot board. Curretnly running 6 x 2 GB sticks for 12 GB but been wanting to upgrade to 24. One person on my CG forum said I could use 3 x 8 GB instead of 6 x 4 GB (the latter more difficult to find). I was told the limit was set at 24 GB because the biggest stick available at the time was 4 GB.

Using 8 GB sticks would mean if all the slots were filled I'd have 48 GB which according to the specs is more than ASUS says the board supports.

...thank you, that is what I originally thought. Just want to confirm. Well I have the highest bid on a 1333 kit on ebay. Newegg has the same kit new, but they recently jacked up the price by 62$ from what it was in December when I didn't have the spare funds to get it. The only other 24 bit 1333 memory kits I can find are ECC registered for servers and workstations which won't work on a P6T.
