Someone suggested the "Corsair CXM 450W 80+" for my build which is this https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/bbYXNN.

I use my PC to do a lot of web browsing and office programs with the odd bit of mid-level gaming.
I leave my PC on all day for most days so power efficiency, reliability and durability are very important.

Can anyone who knows a lot about PSUs suggest the best compatible unit and the most cost efficient unit?

In terms of cost effiecency I would have said this - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/super-flower-golden-green-hx-350w-80-plus-gold-power-supply-black-ca-001-sf.html

In terms of best possible unit at a premium cost I would have said this -
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/Y3X2FT/evga-supernova-g3-eu-550w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-220-g3-0550-y3

Any suggestions from someone with more knowledge would be immensely appreciated as I;m a total noob, this is my first ever build.

The thing with the Corsair CXM series is there are two versions out there. The older ones that are in the PSU tier list are very poor units. The newer ones are apparently better, but the lower wattage ones use different internals and I haven't seen a legit review of them yet.

AFAIK there isn't a way to tell which it is without looking at the serial numbers. I imagine the part numbers would be different though so I guess that is another way.

Thanks for your suggestion, if this was your machine, what PSU (out of any you could choose) would you use for reliability?

For anyone reading this, I've decided to go with the EVGA 550w G3, the Corsair CXM is a tier 4 but the G3 is a slightly smaller (as yet unrated) version of the G2 which is a tier 1. The G3 is also modular which is ideal for my tiny case. Any other suggestions would be most welcome though as I plan to buy everything over the weekend so still have time to change my mind.
