Hey all!

I have a huge problem. My PC completely freezes, while making loud buzzing noise from speakers. The only thing I can do is hard reset (pushing boot button and restarting PC). Keyboard and mouse are still lit and both my monitors are on, but the picture just freezes and keyboard and mouse are not responding. I can't CTRL+ALT+DEL on anything else for that matter.

This problem has been around since the day I built my setup, I believe. So I've been with this problem for a about a year now. Got a bit tired of buzzing noises and freezes every day.

This only happens when I'm gaming, though. Game doesn't need to be demanding, this seem to be happening with almost every game (demanding games make PC freeze faster). I can watch any HD videos in peace.

Sometimes my gaming sessions can be even 2-4 hours before the crash happens, but again, this can happen in about 30 minutes since the game launch. It's absolutely random, but it still happens every time I play.

Here are some samples of this strange buzzing noise. They seem to differ, but I think it's just the sound looping, so buzzing noise depends on what sound is coming from the speakers at the moment of crash. Sometimes buzzing sound doesn't even occur, just freeze.

The game played during buzzing sound recordings is The Witcher 3, if that matters. Crank your volume up a bit if you can't hear buzzes.

The only thing that seem to help is turning off Turbo Boost/Mode in BIOS. By "help" I mean my gaming sessions seem to be a bit longer than before turning off Turbo Boost, which means I can play longer before PC freezes. And for the record: my PC IS NOT OVERCLOCKED IN ANY WAY. The only thing I have changed in the BIOS is turning on XMP.

My PC specs:

Motherboard: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Intel Z170 So.1151 Dual Channel DDR4
CPU: Intel Core i5 6600K 4x 3.50GHz So.1151
RAM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4-2400 DIMM CL16 Dual Kit
PSU: 600 Watt Corsair CX Series Modular 80+ Bronze
SSD: 250GB Samsung 850 Evo 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s TLC Toggle
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Tower Cooler
GPU: 4096MB MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4G Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16
OS: Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)

Temperatures: GPU is steady 74-77C during heavy loads (demanding games) and CPU is around 45-50C. Ambient temperature is about 25C I believe, although I can lower it by opening a window or turning on a fan.

All the latest mobo/GPU drivers installed.

UPDATE: I disabled XMP and cranked up my fans, so during Witcher 3 the temperature stays at approximately 73C. Seems to work, no crashes yesterday and been able to play for 6-7h straight. No sure which one fixed the issue, but I think it was turning off XMP. I'll be back with some more updates if crashes occur.

Okay, it's back. Crashes started to occur yet again. I think it's overheating thou, because when my fans are on in the room, it doesn't crash. I think I will need another fan into my PC.
