Hello everyone, I understand there are a bunch of threads on this, but I cannot find any solutions that work for me.

Whenever I play ANY game for a lengthy period of time and I try to exit, it always, always goes to a black screen. It's so f***ing annoying.

I've tried every possible fix on the internet and nothing works. I've tried unplugging/replugging dp cables. I've tried setting the refresh rate to 60hz (which it wont even let me do. It always just reverts back to 59). I've tried setting compatibility modes. I've tried driver updates/rollbacks.

Needless to say, I've tried everything and it wont work. This didn't happen until a few weeks ago. I built this system last year, and it only started doing this recently. Why? WHY?? is this happening?? Someone please help me.

I was having the black screen issues when booting games, alt-tabbing games, etc. For me it was the Driver, I actually rolled back to the manufacturer driver. Just my thoughts. I use the MSI Radeon RX 470 armor OC 4gb

I thought maybe the power draw was part of the problem so I changed my VGA cable and so far I haven't had any problems when exiting games. I'll update after I've used my pc for a week.

UPDATE: didn't help. at this point i think it's a hardware issue. I'll probably just buy another gpu.

I just fixed it.

and I know its fixed because:

When it blacked out again, I went into my closet and found an HDMI cable (up to this point i was using a DP) and I plugged it in, and what do you know, the screen lights up.

Then I immediately restart my pc to see if it was truly working, and for the first time in a very long time, I saw everything in the start up without my monitor flickering (when i still used the DP cable my monitor would flicker on startup).

I probably should have tried this a long time ago....
Now, it could either be the cable that was messed up, or maybe the DP port in my 1070. Although i doubt it becasuse i tried both DP ports and none of them worked when the blackout occurred. So im guessing this is a faulty DP cable.
