MSI 970 Gmaing MOBO NO POWER!!!

Hello, I just got my new parts in. I was reusing my RAM an PSU cause its new as of 3 months ago.

MOBO: MSI 970 Gaming
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1055T w/ stock cooler - not overclocking
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1066
PSU: EVGA 850G2

I got everything hooked up and no power. I get a blink of a red light and the CPU fan spins for half a second then nothing.

I followed the instructions right as I have build many PC's in the past and have never had this happen. Can anyone help Please???

Solution

The JFP1 connector on the motherboard. Disconnect all wires from it and shortly touch with a screwdriver the 2 pins (no 6 and no 8) corresponding to the Power button.
"and the CPU fan spins for half a second then nothing."
Try leaving only the CPU and CPU cooler installed, both 24 and 8 pin power cables connected. No other wires/components.
Start the board by shortly touching with a screwdriver the 2 pins on the board corresponding to the case power button.
See if the CPU fan does spin.

If it does not, try testing the board outside the case, for ruling out a short.

I've tried removing everything and only connecting the 24 pin power. The PSU has two connections for the 24pin power and the red light only flashes on and off when one of the connections is plugged in on the PSU side.

This has done something different. I'll put it together now and see if this has worked.
