Suite Solutions supplies Internet to my apartment complex. Their site says my Arris Surfboard 6141 modem is fine with their system. My speed is under mbps, I'm paying for 18. Their tech says my modem isn't compatible with their equipment. Me thinks I'm being lied too. Thoughts?

Well if there compatibly list says they allow Arris Surfboard 6141 than the tech would be lying.. However, all ISP's say up to X mbps.
Check your connections, and make sure there isn't anything hogging anything up relating the network. I'd dispute with your ISP and possibly speak to a manager and see what happens from there.
In the end - If there website says it is allowed and working than you should be fine.

Don't simply go on what you are being told by your ISP - - try a different modem/router for yourself. Borrow one to try before buying one if at all possible.
If you aren't prepared to experiment on your own initiative with different devices & setups you'll get nowhere.
