Hello,

Simple Question ,

is there a way to split the x16 PCIe slot into two x8 PCIe slots and both being Active? that is accept two GPU cards in SLI ?

I want to build a very compact SLI Machine using ITX motherboard with just one slot as you know.

the Z270 itx motherboard should allow the 16 lanes to be divided into two 8 lanes slots as in ATX motherboards .

so is it possible ? is there any split PCIe x16 to 2xPCIe x8 cable ?

This is very important for me , I want to make the smallest PC case that can take SLI GPU .

Wow didn't know it was possible looks like you're after is firstly PCIE Bifurcation functionality with the motherboard which i see from link below it featured on x99 and z170. Reliability will be the question though as it's not a common thing to do so support for it wouldn't be high priority.

lol I better act fast before some one makes it before me :)

I always knew it is possible for the functionality of splitting 16 lanes already exists in X99 and Z170/Z270 and ALL SLI enabled chipsets ... I was thinking it needs a custom bios as well ..

:) there is a challenge going around the world for the most compact PC that can take everything..

so far , Dancase made the smallest case for one card.

https://www.dan-cases.com/

but no one could make the smallest case with 2 cards yet :)

we need the short ITX motheroad to place the powersupply at the front .. otherwise it would be huge.

its about the challenge not my main pc :)

Ah, I get it :)

Bifurcate away then, or look to something like a Pro Duo that already has two GPU's on a single x16 PCIe slot (though may need to build a custom SFF case for it and de-house a PSU to make it all work).
