Just buy a full used system at the price you can pay. No sense buying a new motherboard to run an old CPU, you need to re-install Windows anyway, so may as well just get a faster full system to begin with. You can find used Intel Core i3 and i5 systems for $100-150.

Well from the socket and chipset shown on the link above it should support a Core 2 Duo but YOU NEED TO CHECK that the BIOS is update and will allow you to install a Core 2 Duo.

LG N1996 MS-7393 VER 1.0, is an MSI inc, MS 7393 motherboard OEM to LG
closest reference I could find was on MSI G31M (MS-7379) processor support and specifications, note the cpu type and references Bios needs to the right side. on that web page
 seems to say yes with a limited number of CPU possible. Now that said. it is possible the LG oem of the MS MS-7393 has different specs, but I doubt it.

this guess work is based on numerous salespoint selling this board with E processors on them http://www.openpinoy.com/shop/step1.php?number=5626

but as stated before hand I would try my best to find the latest Bios for it before attempting it.
