Hi All,

I recently switched my CPU and motherboard from AMD to Intel with an i5 6600k and a ASUS Z170 M-E3, without doing a clean install.

Now I don't remember the GPU usage of the old system, which was a FX 6300, but I'm still using the same GPU which is the GTX 1060 6gb.

I know it's not a CPU bottle neck because I've seen multiple videos where both i56600k and the GTX 1060 has the GPU reaching the high 90s. My GPU only goes that high if I'm in an open field, never the city.

I took a look at DOOM also which ran great on both system, and my GPU would fluctate between 70 - 90+%.

What's going on???

I ran Witcher 3 on a 980 which is approx. equivalent to a 1060. I ran it at 1440p with grass high and hairworks off, everything else Ultra. I am pretty sure it should do 1080p with only hardworks disabled at 60 fps except when it's loading new areas. My 970 does that on even a lower GPU.

Low GPU usage is probably normal if you are hitting the Vsync cap most of the time. If you are dropping below it might be due to another bottleneck (loading from a HDD, even an SSD etc.).

I currently run it st 1080p on a mix of high and ultra on the Witcher without hairworks, but I have run it on a lower resolutuon, and I still didn't the GPU usage go up.

I don't expect 60fps performance, certaininly not on a gtx 1060, but I at least expect it to work close to 100%

One other thing to try. I find that NVIDIA power setting "Power optimised" or whatever the new default one is (aside from the older Adaptive or High Performance) is buggy, and occasionally does not boost GPU clocks to maximum even though the game is running lower FPS than the refresh rate. Try setting it to Adaptive instead.
