I'm about to build my first gaming pc. The thing is I'm confused between the processors i5 6500 and i5 7500. I need help to choose between these two...
Here are my other specs for the build

Gpu- zotac gtx 1060 6gb Amp edition
Ram- hyper x fury 16gb
Motherboard- Gigabyte B250
Psu- 550 w

Plz help me....

Solution
7500 is slightly faster then 6500 - plus recently you can find it cheaper (depends where of course). As your mobo supports 7500 out-of-box, there's no reason not to buy 7500.

Thanks for your reply... Ri8 now my specs are i5 7400(i went for 7400 to maintain my budget), gtx 1060 6gb, mobo H1100, ram 16gb, 1tb storage, psu 450.
As for ur question, psu 450 or 500 is more than enough for 1060. And ya my build is working amazingly... It gives me 60 or above 60fps on every high end games. So u should be worring about ur setup. It works superb. Ans also i will soon get another 1tb hdd and also i7 7th k seris(hope so).

with power supply it not just the wattage but the brand and the caps used in the unit. a seasonic 520w units as a gaming power supply would be fine. myself i get the larger 620w unit so if you change to a newer and faster gpu you wont have to replace the power supply. some of the entry level power supply are cheaply made and may not last long under gaming loads. look at toms hardware power supply tier list look at tier one or two units. also check online see if any of the newer digital power supply's are on sale.

This is an old thread originally & I would argue now the eyzen 5 are available , some cheaper than the i5 6500/7400/7500 theyre better buys.
Perform similarly & offer a longer socket lifetime.

The ryzen 1400 upwards are all better choices than a locked i5 skylake .
