I am trying to install a fresh version of Windows 7 on a computer however when trying to install the files it comes up with an error saying "Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition select for installation. Error Code 0x80070057"

I have tried installing Windows 7 Via USB and DVD however with the same error. I have also tried installing Windows 10 Via USB as well however it still persists.

I had a similar issue,it had to do with the partition not properly formated(which gave me a similar error code) in order to be a boot windows partition. All i had to do is to install my hdd on another pc as a secondary disk, access it inside windows and then formated it.After these i managed to install windows with success.

I followed the steps however when formatting the drive it came up with an error stating "Failed to format the selected partition. [Error: 0x80070057]"

is there a small partition on the drive? say around 100mb? if so, delete that partition and format the whole drive.

Nothing, I believe the hard drive is corrupted or something along those lines.

I installed Windows with no trouble on a 2.5 inch drive which I am using as the main drive now.
