Need to buy a new laptop.
My budget is 25000-27500.

My work with laptop - Moderate gaming, light work with designing software (catia, Ansys, solid works)

Solution
Intel's 7th gen iGPU is just about as fast as AMD's integrated graphics. AMD's GPU drivers are better, but the Intel chip would almost certainly provide better battery life, all else being equal. i3's also crush AMD's APUs in CPU performance. Personally, I would not buy an AMD construction core for any reason in 2017.

Intel is the better option given the budget. AMD offers more cores but Intel offers more bang with their processors. AMD is also pretty popular with gamers because of the price, AMD is considerably cheaper than Intel oriented stuff.

AMD A10 7850K is pretty good but the Intel I5-6400 is better. I would forget the I3s from Intel, there are bigger and better things out there and your going to want a quad core instead of a dual core for the things you will need it for. I3s has hyperthreading only, 2 cores 4 threads while the I5 have quad cores and hyper threading. Even the I7s are getting into the decent price range, depending on which models you look at.

I5 CPUs are quadcore with NO hypertreading. only I7's come with 4 physical core with hyperthreading .

but compared to the A10 the I3 is still the best band for your buck

Well I feel stupid, I knew that I5s were 4 core 4 threads and I never gave it the time to think about it not being hyperthreading. What can I say, I am a AMD fan ;).

I can't really think of many I3s being better than the A10s. One in my mind that would come close would be the I3-6098P.

you really think that's a credible opinion of an I3 CPU vs the A10 after admitting your an AMD fan?

just sayin,'

Credible, maybe. It being credible depends on the person receiving it.
Yes, I love AMD they give great products for a great price but I don't have any bias towards them. I keep neutral ground when talking computer junk with people. I said I love AMD and I am a fan, I'm not a die hard fan. I understand that intel offers more for its money, but that comes with the price tag that not everyone can afford (another reason i love AMD) I've had Intel boards and CPUs in the past. I will recommend the better part regardless if its Intel or AMD. In this case I feel like AMD is the better CPU than the I3, I did suggest Intel being the one to go after and suggested a I5.

Actually since we're discussing laptops the boundaries are a little blurred. there are i5's with 2c4t, there are i7's with 4c4t, there are even i7's with 2c4t, it all gets a bit messy.

The A10 would likely run off APU graphics, which would beat the i3 in gaming unless the i3 laptop also had a dedicated GPU

For me, the arguments for ryzen sound a lot like the arguments for FX when it came out, i.e. "it's behind intel now but will catch up when more cores becomes more relevant".

People bought FX on the strength of that argument 4 years ago and they're buying ryzen on that same argument now. Unless I'm missing something
