Heya!
Going to buy the Ryzen 5 1600 soon, as it came out today!
I'm planning to get the ASUS PRIME 350M-A with 2 Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000Mhz ram Modules.

As i noticed now, the Motherboard has it's max at 2666Mhz, AND the CPU has it's max at 2400Mhz

What kind of Ram do i need?
I suppose to be 2400Mhz, but what would happpen, if I put two 3000Mhz or 2666Mhz Modules into?

I want 2x8GB Ram Modules, so I guess it'll be

2x8Gb 2400Mhz(?) 288pin LOW PROFILE

I searched half of the internet but didnt find anything yet.

Help pls ._.

spec page says it can handle up to 3200 OC RAM. Anyways testing indicates faster RAM helps the Intra-core communication of the Ryzen CPU, but the speed up seems to drop off after 2666, so probably not worth buying anything faster than that unless you just don't care about the price difference.

AM4 mobos only support DDR4 and some different brands only support a max of 3200 oc

@ paitar - you're absolutely that ryzen doesn't support those speeds but it doesn't mean that that speed native ram won't work at all.
3000 will run at 2933 max
3400 will run at 3200.

Native ram speeds are only in integars of 266 from ddr4 2133 native speed.
So
2133
2400
2666
2933
3200.

I would always buy minimum of 2666 .
It'll likely run at 1t command rate which is near as dammit the same performance as 2933 2t

So if a mobo's maximum supported Memory clock is (eg) 2666mhz, will a 3200mhz module run at 2666 (max speed) or would it just not work?

It 'should' with 99.999% certainty run at 2666 with no problem.
However you're surely aware of the issues that ryzen builders have had with ram compatibility.

There are a couple of board combinations with a data & geil ram that have failed to boot at all .

Crucial , corsair, gskill all work fine with varying degrees of success speed wise depending on the board & ram combo.

B350 official max is 2666, but 2933 & 3200 are supported oc speeds too (just not working speeds the board manufacturers will guarantee to run at those speeds 100%)

The big updates should be pushed soon to maximise ram compatibility ,at this moment the gigabyte b350 gaming 3 seems to have the most success with 2933/3200 speeds from what I've seen .

That said I have an asrock b350/pro 4 running ballistix sport 2400 at 2933mhz no problem at all.

Its not something I'd recommend though because when I did the exact same combo in another build it would not boot past 2400!! That is finicky to say the least.

There has been too much discourse made on ram speeds, really IMO, if you can run 2666mhz you should be happy.
Its not abaolutely optimal no,but the difference even compared with 3200 is negligible for 99% of users.

What do you think about this : :??:

I happen to have an Asus Prime B350M-A manual right in front of me since I just built a Ryzen 7 1700 system. For memory it says ...
"AMD Ryzen processors:
4 x DIMMS, max. 64GB, DDR4 3200(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2666/2400/2133 MHz, ECC and non-ECC, unbuffered memory"
I put G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Memory (Desktop Memory) in mine. Rock solid and looks cool too :)
