So trying to update this pos motherboard's BIOS and it says it 'cannot detect USB Drive' although I clearly see every single USB Drive I've plugged into it in the bootable menu list so I know the board recognizes it. No idea what the issue could be.

Solution
best contact evga and see ? I could see one pendrive not being compatible or detected but if you use a few different brands or what ever of pendrives you think one would be good and recognized and work properly .

is there any pressing reason you feel you need to flash ? unless you have a compatibility issue with new hardware it resolves or stability issues do to that its not recommended to flash anyway just for the sake of flashing [in other words don't fix what aint broken ]
I got 2 old boards still on there first release bios never needed to flash then at all to this day even with new hardware

now from here shows a extra steps ??

''•First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit...

Have you tried a different USB port or thumb drive?

I've used multiple USB drives and every USB port on my desktop; the front two panel ones and every single one on the rear motherboard IO.

may check evga support on that some times you have to format the pendrive to like fat32

like here in this x99 ftw notes on that

BIOS Installation
•Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
http://www.evga.com/support/download/showdlinfo.aspx?id=12539&type=N&acctype=BIOS&accversion=2.03&part_number=150-HE-E997

best to all ways check any notes on your board bios flashing a mistake can brick your board if still unsure best contact evga support on proper steps

Yeah, I read that already. Still nothing unfortunately. I've updated plenty of motherboard BIOS' before but never had any issues until I decided to update my personal computer.

thing is go ask there support and see what they say and save the e0mails if they tell you something and screws it up you may have some recourse ?

put some of that monkey on there back if you use there advice you may hold them to it if it bricks or something [opinion]

from here looks cut and dry

format pendrive download and extract the file move extracted file to pen drive and run flash tool complete flash save and exit ??

I guess you did extract the zip file ??

Yeah. I even went as far as to try it with the unextracted ZIP file, extracted folder, and just having each file in the ROOT directory.

need to contact evga and let them spell it all out on proper flashing steps then blame them if it fails

So finally got it to work. I had to find the oldest, crappiest USB 2.0 flash drive I had and for some reason it worked on that. Why? Not sure, cause I formatted every drive identically whether it was USB 2.0 or 3.0, but it worked.

well I ran in to that deal newer pendrives not recognized but like you says a older crap one did . better hang on to that old pendrive just in case its needed again down the road . like a usb3 drive not reconized or work right on a usb2 port ?? there suppose to be backward compatible but not guaranteed

glad it did get worked out and good luck
